Food & Beverage Logistics

Safe, Compliant Logistics for the Global Food Supply Chain

Food freight is one of the most regulated areas of international logistics. HACCP principles, GACC registration, FDA prior notice, shelf-life management, temperature control, and allergen labelling requirements all create a compliance environment where experienced specialist handling is essential. Marwest LLC has developed deep expertise in food trade between China, Africa, and the USA — managing complex documentation requirements, coordinating health inspections, and maintaining cold chain integrity for perishable and frozen food products.

Key Challenges

Logistics Obstacles in This Sector

HACCP & Food Safety

Food importers must demonstrate HACCP-aligned supply chain management. We work with food manufacturers to ensure all required food safety certifications are in place before shipment.

Shelf Life Management

Food products have finite shelf lives. Ocean freight transit times must be factored into shelf-life calculations to ensure products arrive with sufficient remaining shelf life for distribution.

GACC Registration

Food products exported from China must be registered with GACC (General Administration of Customs of China). We verify supplier registration and manage the documentation process.

FDA Prior Notice is a submission required for all food shipments entering the USA. It must be submitted at least 4 hours before vessel departure (8 hours for air freight). We manage FDA Prior Notice submissions as part of our standard US-bound food freight service.

All food exporters from China must be registered in the GACC overseas manufacturer database. We verify your supplier's registration status before accepting the booking and advise you immediately if registration is missing or expired.

Acceptable remaining shelf life varies by product type and destination country. As a general rule, retailers require at least 60–70% of the product's total shelf life remaining on arrival. We factor transit times into your shelf-life calculations at the quotation stage.
